研究目的
To evaluate the efficacy of contact-mode 1,064-nm Nd:YAG laser therapy and steroid tape for hypertrophic cesarean-section scars versus conservative therapy (steroid tape only).
研究成果
Nd:YAG laser treatment effectively decreased the total treatment time of hypertrophic cesarean-section scars by a third, from a mean of 24.3 months to 16.9 months. An algorithm for treating mild and severe hypertrophic cesarean-section scars is proposed.
研究不足
The study was limited to mild hypertrophic scars (JSS scores 9-12). More severe scars and keloids were excluded. The study did not compare noncontact versus contact-mode Nd:YAG laser effects.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A retrospective chart review was performed to identify patients with hypertrophic scars after a vertical cesarean section. The study compared the efficacy of Nd:YAG laser therapy combined with steroid tape versus steroid tape alone.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
40 consecutive Japanese patients with hypertrophic scars (JSS scores 9-12) treated from July 2015 to December 2017 were included.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
1,064-nm Nd:YAG laser (Cutera, Inc.), steroid tape (fludroxycortide tape).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Patients were treated with steroid tape daily; the test group also received Nd:YAG laser therapy every 3-4 weeks. Treatment continued until JSS score dropped below
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Treatment times were compared using the Welch t-test.
