研究目的
To design a wide-band microstrip antenna using the IE3D microwave simulator, achieving the wide-band characteristics using the gap-coupling method.
研究成果
A wideband gap-coupled patch antenna is discussed and presented herein. The maximum impedance bandwidth of the proposed wideband gap-coupled antenna is 97.88%, covering the frequency range of the WLAN, IEEE standards, C-band, and S-band uplink downlink frequencies. The effect of the gap between the elements as well as the feed width is also studied. Comparative results for the GC-RMSA and DC-RMSA antennas are obtained and analyzed. The impedance bandwidth of the gap-coupled design is very large compared with that of the direct-coupled design, while keeping all the dimensions of the antenna the same. The proposed antenna shows a maximum gain of 6.725 dB and efficiency of 99.86%.
研究不足
The primary drawback of microstrip antennas is their narrow bandwidth, which restricts their applications in wireless applications.
