研究目的
To report the outcomes of laser therapy to barricade eccentric full-thickness macular hole with associated cystoid macular edema.
研究成果
Barricade laser therapy surrounding a macular hole can lead to resolution of associated cystoid macular edema. The creation of a laser photocoagulation full-thickness barricade around the hole may be considered for the treatment of severe CME complicating eccentric MH formation.
研究不足
The study is limited by the small number of cases (two patients) and the lack of a control group. More robust investigation with larger numbers of patients and longer follow-up is needed to elucidate the mechanism of fluid resolution in these cases.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study reports two cases of eccentric full-thickness macular hole with persistent cystoid macular edema treated with argon laser therapy.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Two patients who developed an eccentric full-thickness macular hole with persistent cystoid macular edema after pars plan vitrectomy with and without internal limiting membrane peel for epiretinal membrane.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Argon laser therapy (PASCAL Topcon Corporation, Japan and PUREPOINT 532 nm; Alcon Laboratories, Inc, Fort Worth, TX).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Barricade argon laser therapy was applied concentric to the full-thickness macular hole.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Observation of cystoid macular edema resolution within 1 to 3 months of therapy.
