To present a novel configuration of a dual-band filter employing TE11m dual-mode elliptical cavity resonators for a significant reduction in filter footprint and to facilitate cross-couplings for advanced quasi-elliptic filter functions.

The novel dual-band bandpass filter based on dual-mode elliptical waveguide resonators offers a compact footprint and features a pair of transmission zeros for each passband. The design approach has been validated by an 8-pole C-band design, demonstrating the feasibility of extending to higher-order filters while maintaining compact size.

The measured insertion loss is worse than simulated, attributed to imperfect surface finishing and the use of un-plated screws for tuning. The spurious level can be suppressed by modifying the cavity configuration or adding a cover filter.
