研究目的
Investigating the effect of semi-transparent Organic Photovoltaics (OPVs) on the growth and behavior of cultivated pepper plants (Capsicum annuum) in a Mediterranean greenhouse.
研究成果
Semi-transparent OPV modules based on P3HT:PCBM photoactive layer are suitable for simultaneous cultivation and energy generation in greenhouses. The shading effect of OPVs was found to be beneficial for pepper plant cultivation, leading to increased plant height and fruit production. The protection from UV radiation and the optimized light conditions under OPV shading contributed to these positive outcomes.
研究不足
The study focuses on a specific type of plant (pepper plants) and a specific OPV configuration (P3HT:PCBM), which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other plants or OPV materials. The study was conducted over a single growing season, and long-term effects of OPV shading on plant growth were not investigated.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Semi-transparent OPV panels based on P3HT:PCBM photoactive layer were manufactured and integrated on the rooftop of a 24 m2 experimental Mediterranean greenhouse covering 22% of its total area.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Pepper plants (Capsicum annuum) were cultivated inside and outside the greenhouse, divided into 'OPV-Shaded Plants', 'Control Plants', and 'Outdoor Plants'.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Fully printed OPVs with single junction inverted architecture, PET/ITO flexible substrates, ZnO, P3HT:PCBM, PEDOT:PSS, Ag electrode, slot die coating technique, inkjet printing technique, ultra-short picosecond laser for patterning.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
OPV panels were integrated on the greenhouse rooftop, and plant growth parameters (height, number of fruits, fruit mass) were measured over 154 days.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Logistic S-shaped curves were used to model fruit production and mass, and derivatives were plotted to analyze the rate of fruit production.
