研究目的

Reviewing current solutions for VLC drivers, including a general view of all types of power converters used as modulators, to organize the available information to guide future works, identifying opportunities and exposing limitations of the presented solutions.

SMPS are a trend among the dual-purpose LED drivers. Also, SS and LPA circuits are among the most frequent in literature. Efficiency and power analysis showed that clearly distinguishable groups exist among those drivers used as MC: LPA and SMPS. They are in opposition to each other: while either in efficiency or power rating the SMPS reach greater values, the greater data rates are reported using LPA.

研究不足

The review excludes references focused only on characterization of LEDs, VLC channel, receiver or modulations, without driver specification, and proposed topologies that did not go through mathematical proofs, simulations or prototyping. Additionally, commercial solutions were not included due to lack of published circuitry information.
