研究目的
Measuring the force of electrostatic interactions between poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) particles dispersed in organic solvent mixtures of cyclohexyl bromide (CHB) and n-decane using optical laser tweezers.
研究成果
The forces of interaction between PMMA particles dispersed in a mixture of CHB and n-decane were directly measured with optical laser tweezers. The addition of n-decane to CHB increased the optical contrast, enabling direct measurement of the forces of pair interactions. The presence of UV-curable adhesive in the flow cell and use of aged CHB as a solvent medium could significantly affect the particle interactions.
研究不足
The surface roughness of particles dispersed in a single fluid phase was generally not important, particularly when their interparticle interactions are long range. The effects of the dissolved impurities on the electrostatic interparticle interactions could not be fully understood without a complete list of the glue’s chemical components.
