The equivalent circuit model provides an efficient method for calculating and optimizing the frequency response characteristics of direct modulation RoF links. Reducing the equivalent capacitance and resistance of lasers and detectors, increasing slope efficiency and responsiveness, and suppressing laser RIN are key to improving link performance. Careful optimization of input signal power is also crucial to minimize noise.

The study is limited by the linear treatment of laser diodes under small microwave signal modulation and the neglect of certain parasitic resistances and capacitances in the photodiode model. Additionally, the practical implementation of reducing equivalent capacitance and resistance of devices may face material and structural constraints.
