Investigating the approach for designing open-knowledge-driven manufacturing execution systems on top of CPS that controls robot workstations and conveyor-based transportation system of a pallet-based production system.

The use of CPSs for OKD-MES offers improvements in time and cost reduction, system extendibility, adaptability, and availability. However, challenges such as security, observability, and performance need to be addressed. Future work includes developing integrated methodologies to improve the adoption of the approach in the manufacturing domain.
