Photoelectrons from Aux@GSH clusters are superior to hot electrons from plasmonic Au NYs in improving interfacial charge separation and transfer for PEC water splitting under visible light irradiation. This work provides a foundational understanding of the charge transfer characteristics between metal NCs and metal NYs in solar energy conversion applications.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involves the fabrication of TNTAs-Aux and TNTAs-Au heterostructures for PEC water splitting performance comparison under visible light irradiation.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters (Aux@GSH) and gold nanoparticles (Au NYs) were used.

X-ray diffraction (XRD, Miniflex600), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM, Supra55), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM, Tecnai G2 F20), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS, Cary7000), X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS, Escalab 250), Raman spectroscopy (Dxr-2xi), Photoluminescence (PL) spectra (Varian Cary Eclipse).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
TNTAs were prepared by electrochemical anodization, Aux@GSH clusters were assembled on TNTAs via electrostatic interaction, and Au NYs were obtained by calcination of Aux@GSH.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
PEC performances were evaluated using LSV, ABPE, photocurrents, EIS, M-S plots, OCVD, and IPCE measurements.
