研究目的
To evaluate the efficacy of laser therapy on medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) treatment.
研究成果
Laser surgery was significantly superior to LLLT in the treatment of MRONJ, especially for advanced stages. LLLT was shown to improve conservative management in earlier MRONJ stages. The study suggests that laser surgical therapy is a great management strategy for MRONJ treatment from stage II.
研究不足
The studies selected for this review showed poor clinical evidence because only one was categorized as a prospective study and the others were retrospective or case series. The difficulty of performing prospective and randomized clinical trials for this theme is acknowledged.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
This study followed PRISMA standards for systematic review and meta-analysis. An electronic search was performed on the PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Cochrane databases.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Eighty-nine articles were found initially, and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles remained for the review, with three selected for meta-analysis.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Not explicitly mentioned in the abstract.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The study involved a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the selected studies to evaluate the efficacy of different treatments for MRONJ, including laser surgery (Er:YAG) and low-level laser therapy (LLLT).
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Meta-analysis was performed to compare the effectiveness of different treatments, using fixed-effects and random-effects models as appropriate. Heterogeneity was evaluated using the Q (x2) method and I2 value.
