The study demonstrates that the implementation of the ?erenkov emission scheme in terahertz di?erence frequency generation quantum cascade lasers significantly improves the optical external e±ciency. The optimal performance is achieved for short cavity lengths and low terahertz losses in the substrate, with the maximum optical external e±ciency reaching close to 19% under ideal conditions.
