研究目的
To compare the efficacy and safety of diode laser and electrocautery techniques for inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia (IFH) removal.
研究成果
Diode laser is as effective and safe as electrocautery for the removal of IFH under similar conditions.
研究不足
Blinding of the practitioner conducting the surgeries was unfeasible. The intake of medication different from the prescribed was uncontrolled.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection
Randomized double-blind clinical trial comparing diode laser and electrocautery techniques for IFH removal.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources
40 individuals with IFH caused by dentures, randomly allocated to two groups (20 each) for treatment with diode laser or electrocautery.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials
Diode laser (Thera Lase Surgery; DMC Equipamentos), electrocautery (Electric scalpel Emai BP100-Plus 100 W, Transmai Equipamentos Médicos Hospitalares Ltd.), anesthetic cartridges, digital infrared laser beam thermometer.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow
Participants were instructed not to wear dentures for 2 weeks before treatment. Surgical procedures included topical and infiltrative anesthesia, lesion removal with diode laser or electrocautery, and postoperative follow-up.
5:Data Analysis Methods
Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. Comparisons between groups were made using chi-square and Mann–Whitney tests. Temperature measurements and variations were evaluated by linear regression analysis.
