The self-curing method was not sufficient to allow resin cements to achieve the minimum required mechanical properties within 15 minutes after mixing. Light attenuation produced lower biaxial flexure strength values of resin cements in short-term than when the direct light-curing method was performed. The self-adhesive resin cement demonstrated lower BFS values compared to non-self-adhesive resin cement for most of the study conditions, and more consistent characteristic strength with storage time.

The study was conducted under dry conditions, not simulating the humid environment of a clinical scenario. The resin cements were not evaluated during interaction with tooth tissues, which is relevant for self-adhesive materials.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study evaluated the effect of light absence or attenuation on the biaxial flexural strength of dual-polymerized resin cements after short- and long-term storage. Two types of resin cements were used: non-self-adhesive and self-adhesive. Specimens were polymerized under different conditions: self-cured, directly light-cured, light-cured at a distance, and indirectly light-cured through a composite resin barrier.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
One hundred and twenty disk-shaped specimens were made from each cement using Teflon molds.

Teflon molds, dental LED-based light-curing unit (Elipar S10; 3M ESPE), thermopile for power reading, universal testing machine (model 1144; Instron Corp.).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Specimens were polymerized under different conditions and stored for 15 minutes, 24 hours, and 6 months. Biaxial flexural strength was measured using a universal testing machine.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Generalized linear models statistical analysis and Weibull distributions were used for data analysis.
