研究目的
Investigating the concept of Compton-type free-electron lasers (FELs) operating in short wavelength ranges with a high efficiency and power level, focusing on reducing the energy of a driving relativistic electron beam and increasing the efficiency of the electron–wave interaction in FELs.
研究成果
The study demonstrates the feasibility of using 'flying' microwave undulators and spatially extended Cerenkov surface-wave oscillators to achieve high efficiency and power levels in Compton-type free-electron lasers. The results show good agreement between simulation and experimental tests, indicating the potential for further development in higher-frequency ranges.
研究不足
The radiation power is limited by the 'energy capabilities' of the Sinus-6 accelerator used in the study. The research is currently focused on the Ka band, with potential for extension to higher-frequency ranges.
