研究目的
Investigating the use of Optical Scanning Holography (OSH) method in brain tumor detection and segmentation from magnetic resonance images (MRI).
研究成果
The proposed OSH-ACM method is an automatic detection and fast segmentation technique of brain tumor, solving the manual segmentation's error-prone and time-absorbing process. It demonstrates high accuracy in detecting tumor positions and outperforms other methods in segmentation performance.
研究不足
The study is limited to the use of images from the BRATS database and may not account for all variations in brain tumors. The method's performance in real-time clinical settings is not evaluated.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study combines an off-axis optical scan, performed by a heterodyne fringe pattern, and a MR image display ensured by a spatial light modulator. The output in-phase component of the scanned current is collected digitally.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Several images of brain tumors from BRATS database, with tumors having different contrast and form, are used to test the proposed system.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
A laser source (85-GHS-309 model), spatial light modulator (LC 2012), and a photo-detector are used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The combined optical beams are used to scan a Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) displaying the brain tumor image. The light transmitted is focused on the photo-detector which gives an output current.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The in-phase component of the scanned current is used to extract a high-precision distribution of biological tissues, and its maximum position is used in an Active Contour Model (ACM) for tumor segmentation.
