EDTA additive improves the quality of KDP crystal by isolating heavy metal ions, enhancing structural perfection, optical properties, and SHG efficiency. Further studies could explore simultaneous doping of EDTA and organic dye into KDP crystal to enhance SHG efficiency based on another mechanism.

The study is limited to the effects of 1 mol% EDTA additive on KDP crystals. The absorption edge of KDP (1 mol% EDTA) crystal was out of the wavelength region of the spectrometer, limiting band gap determination.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Single KDP crystals were grown from solutions without and with 1 mol% EDTA by the Sankaranarayanan–Ramasamy (SR) method, oriented in type I phase-matching direction.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
KDP and EDTA powders were purchased from Guangdong Guanghua Chemical Factory Co., Ltd. (purity ≥
3:5%). List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
UV–Vis spectrophotometer, FT-IR spectrometer, X-Ray diffractometer, EDX spectrometer, and Nd:YAG laser for SHG investigation.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Crystal growth process was carried out in a water bath, with temperature automatically lowered 1 °C/day.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
UV–Vis transmission spectra, FT-IR spectra, XRD patterns, EDX spectra, and SHG efficiency were analyzed.
