The synthesis of NCl-1 involved heating a mixture of CoCl2·6H2O, DIPT, HPClA, deionized water, and methanol solution at 423 K for five days. The luminescence and magnetic properties were then measured.

The luminescence data were analyzed for quenching effects, and magnetic data were analyzed using the Curie-Weiss law.
