To propose a new approach for uncertainty evaluation in scattering parameters measurements based on the ripple method and subsequent uncertainty propagation through calibration algorithms, providing a practical alternative for traceability in Type-N and 3.5 mm connectors in OSM, SOLT, and SOLR calibrations.

The proposed technique reduces the amount of residual measurements needed and avoids hard dependence on standard definition up to 32 GHz, tracing traceability back to the laboratory’s reference air lines. It encourages the use of new metrological software capabilities in the VNA community.

The method has a limitation regarding the smallest connector to be used due to the lack of a complete mechanical characterization of air lines standards.
