研究目的
To investigate the behavior of surge protective devices (SPDs) under lightning ground potential rise (GPR) conditions and to evaluate the effectiveness of in situ lightning current impulse testing in large free field photovoltaic (PV) plants.
研究成果
The in situ test confirmed the importance of proper bonding of the SPD and component downstream of the SPD in protecting the component from damage. The study demonstrated the value of in situ lightning current impulse testing for providing higher confidence in design where standards are currently limited.
研究不足
The study is limited by not being fully representative of a typical free field PV site and by the lower soil resistivity at the test area compared to typical PV sites in South Africa.
