研究目的
To design, build and maintain a multi-node, heterogeneous, wideband, scalable, hybrid and synchronous Cloud Radio Access Network (Cloud RAN or C-RAN) to support emerging applications requiring both THz-optical and conventional sub-6GHz technologies like Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
研究成果
The CHRONOS testbed successfully demonstrates synchronous reception across multiple edge nodes with an aggregate bandwidth of 108Mbps using 20MHz OFDM waveform in each RF and optical path. The testbed's design and implementation pave the way for scalable and real-time network architectures, with future work focusing on incorporating programmable logic and high-performance SDR for multi-band, RF-optical communication.
研究不足
1. The USRP B210 boards are limited by a single local oscillator, forcing both RF and Optical chains to operate at the same carrier frequency. 2. The optical chain suffers additional delays due to components like the laser source and photodetector, potentially affecting synchronization at higher sampling rates. 3. The current setup lacks real-time processing capabilities for stringent latency requirements of some wireless access protocols.
