研究目的
Investigating the impact of thermo-optic refractive-index changes on the modal properties of dual-core Yb-doped fibers in fiber amplifiers.
研究成果
The study concludes that thermo-optic effects in dual-core fiber amplifiers significantly influence modal properties, including coupling lengths and effective areas. While the coupling between cores is moderately affected by overall heat loads, it is highly sensitive to asymmetric loads. The research highlights the importance of core coupling strength on supermode effective areas and suggests that single-mode operation can be maintained through gain suppression of higher-order modes. Thermo-optic couplings between fundamental supermodes are found to be strong.
研究不足
The study is based on numerical simulations and may not fully capture all real-world operational conditions of fiber amplifiers. The analysis is limited to dual-core fibers and may not be directly applicable to fibers with more cores.
