研究目的
To examine associations between optic nerve head structural parameters and glaucomatous visual field indices.
研究成果
The study found that RNFL-T volume and BMO-MRW volume were more strongly correlated with total deviation than BMO-MRW, but BMO-MRW appeared to be the best predictor of the two glaucomatous visual field indices. This suggests that BMO-MRW may be more useful for detecting and evaluating the progression of glaucoma.
研究不足
The study was limited to patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and excluded those with other ocular diseases, previous ocular surgery, and certain refractive errors. The sample size was relatively small, and the study was conducted at a single institution.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved measuring visual field using a Humphrey field analyzer, peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFL-T), and Bruch’s membrane opening-minimum rim width (BMO-MRW) using spectral domain optical coherence tomography, and rim area with referring three-dimensional photography. Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients were calculated between the threshold of visual sensitivity or total deviation of visual field and the five optic nerve head structural parameters. The Akaike information criterion was calculated to determine the best predictor of each visual field index.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The study included 57 eyes from 33 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma evaluated at Aichi Medical University, Nagakute, Aichi, Japan, from October 2010 to January
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
20 Humphrey Field Analyzer? Model 750, spectral domain optical coherence tomography RS-3000, Kowa nonmyd WX 3D Retinal Camera?, Adobe? Photoshop? CS5 Extended, ImageJ 1.46r.
4:46r.
Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
4. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow: Visual field analysis was performed using a Humphrey Field Analyzer. RNFL-T and BMO-MRW were measured using spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Rim area was evaluated using three-dimensional photography and image analysis software.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients were calculated to analyze associations between visual field indices and structural parameters. The Akaike information criterion was used to determine the best predictor of visual field indices.
