Improvement of Photocatalyst Properties of Magnetic NPs by New Anionic Surfactant
研究成果
The superparamagnetic Fe3O4 NPs with a high saturation magnetization (over 74emu/gr) has rarely observed in synthesis via a simple co-precipitation method. Magnetic NPs were used as a photocatalyzer for photo-degradation of MO- and MB+ dyes at different pH. The effect of pH on the photo-degradation efficiency was extensively explained. In order to modify surface of Fe3O4, its surface covered with biodegradable shell of SiO2. This shell not only eliminates the toxicity of Fe3O4 but also increase its photocatalytic capability, especially at neutral pH, because of containing silanol groups on its surface. Further enhancement in dye photo-degradation occurred when we added sodium citrate as a green surfactant to the dye solution.
研究不足
The study focuses on the improvement of photocatalyst properties using a new anionic surfactant but does not explore the long-term stability or recyclability of the photocatalyst under various environmental conditions.
