An optimization model based on PSO and ε-constraint method is effectively established to search for the optimal design of an off-grid hybrid PV-diesel-battery system as rural reliable electrification solution. Three objectives functions are considered (annualized cost of the system ACS, loss of load probability LLP, and CO2 emissions). Hybridizing PSO with other algorithms can complicate the system, but in our case, the ε-constraint method is used to handle constraints and multiple objectives of the system with simplicity and computational efficiency.
