The Y-CDs exhibit high quantum yield, large Stokes shift, and excellent stability, making them effective fluorescent probes for Ag+ and GSH detection via a fluorescence 'on-off-on' mechanism. They demonstrated high sensitivity, selectivity, and applicability in environmental water, food samples, and cellular imaging, with low cytotoxicity. The static quenching mechanism for Ag+ and competitive coordination for GSH were confirmed. This work provides a viable method for sensing and imaging applications, with potential for further optimization to overcome UV-related limitations.
