Homogeneous immunoassay for alpha-fetoprotein based on the quenching of the fluorescence of quantum dots by antibody labelled with complexed copper ion tags
摘要: A homogeneous fluorescent immunoassay is described for the determination of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) relying on the interaction between copper ion complex and quantum dots (QDs). The copper ion complex-labelled antibody can be employed as a quencher of fluorescence of QDs and capture probe of AFP in homogeneous solution. The labelled antibody is mixed with QDs to form the immune ensemble probe. Upon the addition of AFP, the labelled antibody is stripped away from QDs by antigen-antibody combination leading to the increase in the fluorescence signal. Thus, the determination of AFP can be realized by fluorometry (best measured at excitation/emission wavelengths of 360/520 nm). The fluorescence intensity shows a good linear relationship with the AFP concentration ranging from 40 to 640 ng mL?1, and the LOD is 26 ng mL?1. The proposed method provides a new approach to incorporate metal complexes into QD-based biomolecule sensing.

Study on Charge transportation and scaling behavior of CsPbI3 microwires
摘要: Cesium lead iodide (CsPbI3) has been prepared by a new experimental hazard free precipitation technique. X-ray diffraction spectra have been interpreted with Rietveld refinement which assures the orthorhombic phase of CsPbI3. Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectra confirms the formation of ternary compound. Orthorhombic to cubic phase transition has been studied by observing hysteresis loop in R(T)-T plot for forward-reverse temperature scan. The intra-grain and inter-grain contribution of CsPbI3 to dielectric relaxation has been accounted by fitting the complex impedance plot (Cole-Cole plot). The value of FWHM in Z″(ω)-lnf or M″(ω)-lnf plot is greater than 1.141 decades which reveals the non-Debye type relaxation within material. The broad relaxation peak signifies that there is a distribution of relaxation time over a mean value. Moreover, Z″ & M″ have been plotted in scaled coordinate to check whether the distribution of relaxation time is temperature dependent or not. The frequency dependent relative permittivity represents the decreases of polarizations with frequency which have been successfully analyzed by Koop’s theory. Here, activation energies are equal for different formalism, suggests that the same type charge carriers involved in conduction as well as relaxation process. Ac conductivity has been interpreted by using Jonncher’s power law and frequency exponent (n) increases with temperature which suggests the presence small polaron hopping mechanism.

Chemical Sensing Performance of Flower-Like ZnO/PSi Nanostructures via Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Technique
摘要: ZnO nanostructures were synthesized on porous Si (PSi) structures using a method developed by this study known as electric field-assisted aqueous solution technique. The detailed characterization of this nanostructure was performed using atomic force microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, room-temperature photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique was used to detect two classifications of chemical solvents, namely polar and non-polar solvents. Nyquist plots in EIS were utilized to detect chemical solvents (ethanol, acetone, toluene and benzene) exposed to ZnO/PSi nanostructure arrays. The results showed that the grown flower-like ZnO nanostructure arrays served as good chemical sensors with high sensitivity and low power consumption. Meanwhile, the ZnO/PSi nanoflowers exposed to ethanol showed the highest sensitivity (94.6% response) compared to other chemical solutions with the least response exhibited by benzene (68.4% response). It was postulated that the interaction between the solution and oxygen species of ZnO/PSi nanostructure surface induced a resistance change resulting in the release of free electrons that migrated to the conduction band of ZnO/PSi nanoflower structures and reduced the number of surface-adsorbed oxygen species. Subsequently, the changes observed in the Nyquist semicircle diameter and Warburg impedance led to the chemical sensing response.

A magnetic and carbon dot based molecularly imprinted composite for fluorometric detection of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol
摘要: A magnetic molecularly imprinted composite was prepared by reverse microemulsion using carbon dots (CDs), Fe3O4 as the co-nucleus, and a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP; with 2,4,6-trinitrophenol as the template) acting as recognition sites. The composite of type CD/Fe3O4@MIPs was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), zeta potentiometric analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). The results showed that the composite MIP has a spherical shape with average diameter of 200 nm. They also showed that the composite contains core-shell structures with several Fe3O4 nanoparticles and CDs embedded in each of the microsphere. The composite can extract 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) and has an imprinting factor of 3.6. It has high selectivity and sensitivity for TNP which acts as a quencher of the fluorescence of the CDs (with excitation/emission maxima at 370/470 nm). The limit of detection of this fluorometric TNP assay is 0.5 nM. The method was successfully applied to the determination of TNP in spiked tap water and river water samples, and recoveries ranged from 89.4% to 108.5% (with an RSD of <6%).

A turn-on fluorescent probe for vitamin C based on the use of a silicon/CoOOH nanoparticle system
摘要: The authors describe a fluorometric method for the turn-on determination of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). The blue fluorescence of silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs; with excitation/emission maxima at 350/450 nm) is found to be quenched by CoOOH nanoparticles (NPs). In the presence of vitamin C, the CoOOH NPs are decomposed by a redox reaction between the diol group of vitamin C and CoOOH NPs. As a result, fluorescence recovers. On the basis of this finding, a fluorometric method was designed for the turn-on detection of vitamin C. Under optimal conditions, the method has a low detection limit (0.47 μM) and a linear response in the 0.5 μM to 20 μM a concentration range. It was successfully applied to the determination of vitamin C in spiked red grape and orange juice, and in vitamin C tablets.

Simultaneous detection of different probe molecules using silver nanowires as SERS substrates
摘要: Metallic silver nanowires with high yield were synthesized using a modified seed mediated approach at room temperature. Ribbon-like nanostructures were obtained when the concentration of NaOH was lower and further increase of NaOH transformed it into long nanowires. These nanowires possess high aspect ratio, with length and diameter ~ 6.5 μm and 17 nm respectively. The surface enhanced Raman scattering activity of these nanowires was tested with three different probe molecules viz., crystal violet, malachite green and nile blue chloride using visible (514.4 nm) and near-infrared (784.8 nm) excitation lines. The minimum detection limits for crystal violet and nile blue chloride molecules were found to be down to 10-7 M with good linear responses, as evidenced by values of correlation coefficients, indicating their potential for a variety of applications such as sensing. Principal component analysis was performed with the surface enhanced Raman spectra in order to discriminate the dye molecules and their mixture, simultaneously. The first two principal components, which provided 69.80 and 27.93% of the total data variance, could be conveniently represented as a two dimensional PCA score plot. The score plot showed clear clustering of probe molecules and their mixture. The relative contribution of wavenumbers to each of the two principal components was identified by plotting the PCA loading matrix. These results further promote possibilities of quantification of multiplexed SERS detection and analysis.

Yellow-emissive carbon dots with a large Stokes shift are viable fluorescent probes for detection and cellular imaging of?silver ions and glutathione
摘要: Yellow-emissive carbon dots (Y-CDs) were prepared by a solvothermal method using anhydrous citric acid and 2,3-phenazinediamine as the starting materials. The Y-CDs display a 24% fluorescence quantum yield, a 188-nm Stokes’ shift and excellent stability. They are shown here to be excellent fluorescent probes for the determination of Ag(I) ion and glutathione (GSH). If exposed to Ag(I) ions, they are bound by the carboxy groups of the Y-CDs, and this causes quenching of fluorescence (with excitation/emission maxima at 380/568 nm) via a static quenching mechanism. This effect was used to design a fluorometric assay for Ag(I). The quenched fluorescence of the Y-CDs can be restored by adding GSH due to the high affinity of GSH for Ag(I). The calibration plot for Ag(I) is linear in the 1–4 μM Ag(I) concentration range, and the limit of detection is 31 nM. The respective values for GSH are 5–32 μM, and 76 nM, respectively. The method was applied to the detection of Ag(I) in spiked environmental water samples and gave recoveries ranging from 93 to 107%. It was also applied to the determination of GSH in tomatoes and purple grapes and gave satisfactory recoveries. The Y-CDs display low cytotoxicity and were successfully used to image Ag(I) and GSH in H1299 cells.

Fluorene – Triazine Conjugated Porous Organic Polymer Framework for Superamplified Sensing of Nitroaromatic Explosives
摘要: A porous organic polymer with fluorene and triazine units (PTF), was synthesised through a simple cost effective method. The material was well characterised by FT-IR, solid state 13C NMR and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic studies. Absorption spectrum indicated the electronic coupling between the two units in the polymer backbone. Experiments proved high thermal and chemical stability, and porous nature of the material. Luminescence of PTF was quenched, on the addition of ppb level concentration of nitroaromatic compounds. This was attributed to the photo induced electron transfer from the electron rich polymer backbone to the electron deficient nitro aromatic compounds. The observed superamplification effect in the fluorescence quenching was studied extensively by a series of ground state absorption, steady state and time resolved fluorescence experiments. Finally, the superamplified quenching was successfully assigned to static quenching by quenching sphere of action model. High value of static quenching constant of the order of 3.9 × 103 M-1, for picric acid combined with detection limit as low as 89 ppb envisages PTF as an effective chemosensor for nitroaromatic explosives.

摘要: This conference poster discusses a particular situation where the current emitted from a carbon nanofibre field electron emitter was found to be a nearly linear function of the applied voltage, with the load resistance (as seen by the high- voltage generator) approximately equal to 150 Mega-ohms. This suggests that non-orthodoxy of measured FN plots can sometimes be due to series resistance rather than current dependence in a characterization parameter, and also that "saturation" may not be a good name for the effect. The Fowler-Nordheim (FN) plot has a characteristic shape, in that it "turns over and then decreases in a roughly linear fashion", as the applied voltage V increases (and 1/V decreases). A preliminary literature search has found examples of other FN plots that behave in a generally similar way. This raises the hypothetical possibility that, when a FN plot is non-linear, information about the cause of the non-linearity could be deduced from general characteristics of its shape. However, much detailed research is needed before this could be done with confidence,

摘要: In this paper, we compare the field emitters of molybdenum and tungsten close to the work function using Seppen-Katamuki (S-K) chart. The work functions of the emitters of Mo and W are about the same as calculated by using the Fowler-Nordheim (F-N) plot, but the emission current characteristic by the field emission is obviously smaller for the Mo emitter. Therefore, the characteristics of Mo and W emitters are compared using S-K chart, it was found that there is a clear difference.
