Accurate Gap Determination in Monolayer and Bilayer Graphene/h-BN Moiré Superlattices
摘要: High mobility single and few-layer graphene sheets are in many ways attractive as nanoelectronic circuit hosts but lack energy gaps, which are essential to the operation of field-effect transistors. One of the methods used to create gaps in the spectrum of graphene systems is to form long period moiré patterns by aligning the graphene and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) substrate lattices. Here, we use planar tunneling devices with thin h-BN barriers to obtain direct and accurate tunneling spectroscopy measurements of the energy gaps in single- and bi-layer graphene-h-BN superlattice structures at charge neutrality (first Dirac point) and at integer moiré band occupancies (second Dirac point, SDP) as a function of external electric and magnetic fields and the interface twist angle. In single-layer graphene we find, in agreement with previous work, that gaps are formed at neutrality and at the hole-doped SDP, but not at the electron-doped SDP. Both primary and secondary gaps can be determined accurately by extrapolating Landau fan patterns to zero magnetic field and are as large as ≈ 17 meV for devices in near perfect alignment. For bilayer graphene, we find that gaps occur only at charge neutrality where they can be modified by an external electric field.

Characterization and on-line adjustment of the sagittal-bent Laue crystal profile
摘要: The sagittal-bent Laue monochromator can provide an ideal way to focus high-energy X-ray beams. However, the anticlastic curvature induced by sagittal bending has a great influence on the crystal performance. Thus, characterizing the bent-crystal shape is very important for predicting the performance of the bent-crystal monochromator. In this paper the crystal profile is measured by off-line optical metrology and on-line X-ray experiments. The off-line results showed that the bent-crystal surface could be well fitted to a saddle surface apart from a redundant cubic term which was related to the different couples applied on the crystal. On-line characterization of the meridional and the sagittal radius of the bent crystal includes double-crystal topography and ray-tracing measurement. In addition, the double-crystal topography experiment could be used as a quick diagnostic method for the bending condition adjustment. The sagittal radius of the bent crystal was characterized through a ray-tracing experiment by using a particularly designed tungsten mask. Moreover, rocking curves under different bending conditions were measured as well. The results were highly consistent with analytical results derived from the elastic theory. Furthermore, radii along different vertical positions under various bending conditions were measured and showed a quadratic relationship between the vertical positions and the meridional radii.

Detection of damage of a filter by visualization of filtration process
摘要: This paper deals with testing of filters on the basis of visualization of filtration process. A filtration material can be damaged by flow of the filtered medium, high pressure drop and long-term adverse conditions. These negative effects can cause extensive damage of the filtration textile and filtration efficiency decreases. The filter can be also fractured during manufacturing, processing or by improper manipulation. A testing of a purposely damaged filtration textile is described in the article. Experiments were performed on the filtration setup which permits an optical entrance to the position where a sample of filter is placed. A laser sheet is directed into this place. Scattered light from seeding particles in front of and behind the filter is captured by a digital camera. Images from the camera are analyzed and the filtration efficiency versus time and also versus position can be obtained. Measuring chain including light scattering theory and measuring of light intensity by a digital camera are also discussed in the article.

Comparison of holographic setups used in heat and mass transfer measurement
摘要: The authors of the paper deal with measurement of heat and mass transfer for several years and they have frequently used few techniqes for measurement of refractive index distribution based on holographic interferometry. Some of the well known techniques have been modified some and some new ones developped. Every technique could be applied with success in different type of meassurement and obviously every one has set of properties making them unique. We decided to digest few different basic techniques and describe its properties in this paper with the aim to help the reader select the proper one for their measurement. The list of techniques and its properties is not comprehensive but schould serve as a basic orientation in the field.

Magnetoencephalography with optically pumped 4He magnetometers at ambient temperature
摘要: In this paper, we present the first proof of concept confirming the possibility to record magnetoencephalographic (MEG) signals with Optically Pumped Magnetometers (OPMs) based on the parametric resonance of 4He atoms. The main advantage of this kind of OPM is the possibility to provide a tri-axis vector measurement of the magnetic field at room-temperature (the 4He vapor is neither cooled nor heated). The sensor achieves a sensitivity of 210 fT/√Hz in the bandwidth [2 Hz - 300 Hz]. MEG simulation studies with a brain phantom were cross-validated with real MEG measurements on a healthy subject. For both studies, MEG signal was recorded consecutively with OPMs and Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices (SQUIDs) used as reference sensors. For healthy subject MEG recordings, three MEG proofs of concept were carried out: auditory and visual evoked fields (AEF, VEF), and spontaneous activity. M100 peaks have been detected on evoked responses recorded by both OPMs and SQUIDs with no latency. Concerning spontaneous activity, an attenuation of the signal power between 8-12 Hz (alpha band) related to eyes opening has been observed with OPM similarly to SQUID. All these results confirm that the room temperature vector 4He OPMs can record MEG signals and provide reliable information on brain activity.

Distance-Resolving Raman Radar Based on a Time-Correlated CMOS Single-Photon Avalanche Diode Line Sensor
摘要: Remote Raman spectroscopy is widely used to detect minerals, explosives and air pollution, for example. One of its main problems, however, is background radiation that is caused by ambient light and sample fluorescence. We present here, to the best of our knowledge, the first time a distance-resolving Raman radar device that is based on an adjustable, time-correlated complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) single-photon avalanche diode line sensor which can measure the location of the target sample simultaneously with the normal stand-off spectrometer operation and suppress the background radiation dramatically by means of sub-nanosecond time gating. A distance resolution of 3.75 cm could be verified simultaneously during normal spectrometer operation and Raman spectra of titanium dioxide were distinguished by this system at distances of 250 cm and 100 cm with illumination intensities of the background of 250 lux and 7600 lux, respectively. In addition, the major Raman peaks of olive oil, which has a fluorescence-to-Raman signal ratio of 33 and a fluorescence lifetime of 2.5 ns, were distinguished at a distance of 30 cm with a 250 lux background illumination intensity. We believe that this kind of time-correlated CMOS single-photon avalanche diode sensor could pave the way for new compact distance-resolving Raman radars for application where distance information within a range of several metres is needed at the same time as a Raman spectrum.

Real-Time Geometric Parameter Measurement of High-Speed Railway Fastener Based on Point Cloud from Structured Light Sensors
摘要: With the increase in the number of service years for high-speed railways, the foundation of the rail track suffers from settlement, which causes rail track irregularity. To adjust the position of the track and meet track regularity demands, several components of the fastening system will be replaced by different sized components. It is important to measure the exact geometric parameters for the components of a fastening system before adjusting the track. Currently, the measurement process is conducted manually, which is laborious and error-prone. In this paper, a real-time geometric parameter measurement system for high-speed railway fastener based on 2-D laser profilers is presented. Dense and precise 3-D point clouds of high-speed railway fasteners are obtained from the system. A fastener extraction method is presented to extract fastener point cloud and a region-growing algorithm is used to locate key components of the fastener. Then, the geometric parameter of the fastener is worked out. An experiment was conducted on a high-speed railway near Wuhan, China to verify the accuracy and repeatability of the system. The maximum root-mean-square-error between the manual measurement and the system measurement is 0.3 mm, which demonstrates adequate accuracy. This system can replace manual measurements and greatly improve the efficiency of geometric parameter measurements for fasteners.

ELECTRODELESS MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUE OF COMPLEX DIELECTRIC PERMITTIVITY OF HIGH-K DIELECTRIC FILMS IN THE MILLIMETER WAVELENGTH RANGE
摘要: An electrodeless measurement technique of complex dielectric permittivity of high-K dielectric ?lms is described. The technique is based on a quasi-optic Fabry-Perot resonator and modi?ed for investigation of two-layer dielectric structures — substrate/K-?lm. This procedure is destined to be used for providing a simple intermediate control of parameters of high-K ?lms before the following technological process. Regimes of measurements providing the most sensitive conditions for de?nition of ?lm parameters are considered. The proposed method is tested on two-layer structures with well-known parameters and is used for characterization of ferroelectric (Ba,Sr)TiO3 ?lms in the millimeter wavelength range (~ 50 GHz).

A Novel Recovery Method of Soft X-ray Spectrum Unfolding Based on Compressive Sensing
摘要: In the experiment of inertial con?nement fusion, soft X-ray spectrum unfolding can provide important information to optimize the design of the laser and target. As the laser beams increase, there are limited locations for installing detection channels to obtain measurements, and the soft X-ray spectrum can be dif?cult to recover. In this paper, a novel recovery method of soft X-ray spectrum unfolding based on compressive sensing is proposed, in which (1) the spectrum recovery is formulated as a problem of accurate signal recovery from very few measurements (i.e., compressive sensing), and (2) the proper basis atoms are selected adaptively over a Legendre orthogonal basis dictionary with a large size and Lasso regression in the sense of (cid:96)1 norm, which enables the spectrum to be accurately recovered with little measured data from the limited detection channels. Finally, the presented approach is validated with experimental data. The results show that it can still achieve comparable accuracy from only 8 spectrometer detection channels as it has previously done from 14 detection channels. This means that the presented approach is capable of recovering spectrum from the data of limited detection channels, and it can be used to save more space for other detectors.

摘要: A single silicon Carbide(SiC) nanowire was fixed on the tungsten tip by using an electron beam induced deposition technique. The field emission properties of single SiC nanowire driven by DC and pulse have been characterized separately. The results show that the pulse-driven field emission performance of single SiC nanowire is better than the one driven by DC, including the turn-on voltage and the maximum current. An inference is proposed to qualitatively explain the improvement of field emission performance, which assumes the changes of work function on the top of single SiC nanowire due to the different stretching effect of the electrostatic field by two driving mode.
