  • Cellulose nanofiber nanocomposites with aligned silver nanoparticles

    摘要: Celluloses have attracted much attention as sustainable and abundant materials. Herein, we focus on nanocomposites based on the oxidation-treated nano-sized fibrillated celluloses, namely TOCNs. The silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared in TOCN aqueous dispersion. Generally, the AgNPs are quickly agglomerated after preparation. For the inhibition of the agglomeration of AgNPs, it is required that AgNPs were prepared under the chelation of TOCN, followed by reduction therein. Therefore, AgNPs possessed the nano-scaled radii and aligned along the TOCN from the atomic force microscopic measurements. The thermal stabilities and mechanical properties were increased. The anisotropic thermal conductivities originated from the orientation of TOCN in nanocomposites were observed. The loading of the large amounts of AgNP fillers led to the drastic increase of the thermal and electrical conductivities. The conductive paths of heat and electron were formed by the contact of AgNP with each other. We functionalized the TOCN papers through the loading of AgNPs and the obtained nanocomposites sheets served as conductors.

  • De-Ethylation and Cleavage of Rhodamine B by a Zirconium Phosphate/Silver Bromide Composite Photocatalyst

    摘要: A composite heterogeneous photocatalyst based on silver bromide was prepared by a reaction of silver exchanged zirconium phosphate (ZrP) and HBr. The ZrP/AgBr composite containing 53 wt% AgBr was tested in the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and exhibited higher catalytic activity with respect to pure AgBr. As a matter of fact, the time needed to achieve a percentage of chromophore cleavage of about 90% was 3 min for the composite versus the 30 min needed for pure AgBr. The ZrP/AgBr composite turned out to be stable for at least three consecutive cycles. The UV-Vis spectra of the RhB solution, recorded at different irradiation times, were also decomposed and the concentration of the species formed by de-ethylation and cleavage processes during photocatalysis were calculated; the data obtained for the AgBr-based catalysis were also compared with those for the AgCl-based catalysis, and the degradation mechanism was suggested for both catalytic systems.

  • Light incoupling and SPR tailoring of graphene coated silver-aluminum alloys’ dimer in mimicked humid ambient

    摘要: This work demonstrates the optical responses of the graphene coated silver-aluminum (Ag-Al) alloys' dimer in the presence of humid ambient using Discrete Dipole Approximation (DDA) as a numerical technique. The non-equivalent spherical shape of graphene coated Ag-Al alloy dimer has been considered for this study, where the plasmonic coupling supports both the bonding and anti-bonding modes which lies in higher and lower wavelength region, respectively. The combined effect of these modes provides a broad resonant spectrum, which is mainly influenced by the inter-particle separation between graphene coated alloy dimer. As the interparticle separation decreases, the resonance wavelength shows a red spectral shift with increase in the magnitude of local electric field. The results of proposed geometry provide a good support for the various applications in photovoltaics and photonics.

  • Silver Nanowire Ink for Flexible Circuit on Textiles

    摘要: Low cost electronics implemented in textiles could pave the way to a fully new generation of smart products in the fields of healthcare, sport, fashion, and safety. Although many methods have found their way into the market, many problems still need to be solved and much progress has to be made to enable the commercial exploitation of such products. In this paper, silver nanowires of 60–100 nm in diameter and 8–15 μm in length were achieved by the polyol solvothermal method, and aqueous silver nanowire conductive inks were prepared with the synthesized silver nanowires as the conductive phase, in the presence of polyaniline, guar, and hydrochloric acid. The conductive inks were printed on cotton fabric substrate by screen printing process. The effects of the amount of silver nanowires, layers of coating, and treatment temperature on the microstructure and electrical properties of samples were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and the four-point probe method. The results show that the conductivity and densification of the samples increased with increased amount of silver nanowires, layers of coating, and treatment temperature. The heat treatment helped to improve densification of the silver nanowires and conductivity of the sample. The resistance of the samples increased after bending due to loosening of the overlap between the silver nanowires.

  • Coordination Polymeric Ensemble of Silver with Nitrate and 4-(Aminomethyl)benzoate: Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Luminescence Properties

    摘要: Prismatic crystals of Ag3(4-Amba)2(NO3)2 (I) and Ag(4-AmbaH)NO3 (II) are isolated from the reaction mixture of aqueous solutions of 4-aminomethylbenzoic acid (4-AmbaH) and AgNO3 at Т ≈ 70°C. The crystal structure of compound I (СIF file CCDC no. 1851513) and the luminescence properties of compounds I and II are studied. The structure of compound I contains two crystallographically nonequivalent silver atoms Ag(1) and Ag(2) with the octahedral coordination mode (with allowance for Ag···Ag contacts) with different compositions of the internal spheres of the central atoms. Owing to the contacts, the silver atoms are joined into in?nite cluster ribbons (Ag···Ag 3.06?3.27 ?). The carboxylate group of the 4-Amba anion exhibits the bridging properties and binds the silver atoms of both types. The Ag(2) atoms also contact with the oxygen atom of the NO3– ion and coordinate the NH2 group of 4-Amba. The photoluminescence spectra of compounds I and II are of the same type and show the presence of two groups of emission bands with centers at 484 and 543 nm shifted to the red range of the spectrum relative to the band of 4-AmbaH.

  • Rapid fabrication of silver nanoparticle/polydopamine functionalized polyester fibers

    摘要: In this paper, silver nanoparticles functionalized poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fibers with antimicrobial activity, electrical conductivity and good coating stability are reported. Firstly, silver plated PET fibers were fabricated by rapid polydopamine (PDA) modification followed by electroless plating. Secondly, the surface morphologies and compositions of PDA modified and silver coated PET fibers were characterized by employing scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive spectrometry. Finally, the antimicrobial properties and electrical conductivity of the silver plated PET fibers were investigated. The results showed that the silver coated PET fibers exhibited excellent antimicrobial activity to both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus (with an antimicrobial efficiency of 100 and 99.99%, respectively), and that the antimicrobial activity was well maintained after washing. The silver coated PET fibers showed electrical resistance of 0.76 Ω per 1 cm, indicating good conductivity. It was also demonstrated that the silver layer that formed had good mechanical durability, as indicated by conductivity measurements during tensile loading and observation of the surface morphology of the fibers under various modes of deformation.

  • Antimicrobial propensity of ultrananocrystalline diamond films with embedded silver nanodroplets

    摘要: Ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) layers exhibit excellent mechanical properties and combine chemical inertness with good biological compatibility. Therefore, UNCD is considered a promising material for coating of implants. In this work we present the preparation of thin UNCD films with embedded silver nanodroplets that provide antimicrobial property, addressing another important topic concerning implant surgery, namely the risk of a life threatening bacterial infection. UNCD layers were prepared by microwave plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition on a silicon substrate. Afterwards, a thin film of silver was deposited on top and treated by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) leading to dewetting and formation of silver nanodroplets on the surface. A second UNCD deposition with a short duration between 5 and 30 min was applied for capping the silver nanoparticles with a thin layer. The sample surfaces were characterized after each step by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The composition of the final samples, including the depth of the incorporated Ag nanodroplets, was analyzed by Auger electron spectroscopy. The impact of the silver layer thickness and the RTA temperature on the nanodroplet morphology was investigated. It was found that after 10 min of capping deposition the silver particles were completely covered with UNCD. In order to study the release of silver ions, the UNCD/Ag/UNCD samples were submerged in deionized water for 7 days at 37 °C, followed by detection of the silver concentration in the aqueous samples by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The determined concentration was strongly dependent on the thickness of the capping UNCD layer, exhibiting the highest silver content for the sample with the thinnest capping layer. Thus, the UNCD layer thickness can be utilized to control the amount of Ag ions released into the surrounding environment. The antibacterial properties were investigated with bacterial assays of the Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Gram-positive Bacillus subtilis bacteria that were exposed to the samples. All silver containing samples showed significant antimicrobial propensity, whereas the different capping thicknesses affected the time-course dependent antibacterial efficiency.

  • Junction Welding Techniques for Metal Nanowire Network Electrodes

    摘要: Transparent conductive electrodes (TCEs), which offer advantages of high electrical conductivity and optical transparency, are essential components of practical high-tech optoelectronics such as touch panels, e-papers, organic light-emitting diodes, and solar cells. Solution-processed Ag nanowires (AgNWs) have been considered as a practical alternative TCE material suitable for industrial-scale mass production. However, the contact resistance at AgNW junctions strongly affects the total sheet resistance of AgNW electrodes. In recent years, various welding techniques for AgNW network electrodes have been developed with the aim of decreasing their sheet resistance while maintaining their optical transmittance. In this paper, we present a review of various welding methods such as thermal-mechanical welding, light welding, chemical welding, and metal-plating welding.

  • Green Synthesis of Nano Silver on TiO2 Catalyst for Application in Oxidation of Thiophene

    摘要: The present research work describes the preparation of silver nanoparticles from silver nitrate, and Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) leaf extract, impregnation on titanium dioxide (TiO2) and evaluation of the catalytic activity of this nano silver impregnated TiO2 in the oxidation reaction of thiophene. Tertiary-butyl hydroperoxide was used as an oxidant in the reaction. The catalyst was characterized by BET, SEM, XRF, TEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy, XPS and TPR. The effect of process parameters such as speed of agitation, catalyst weight, oxidant to sulfur mole ratio, silver loading in the catalyst and temperature on the oxidation reaction was studied. Both pseudo-homogeneous and heterogeneous kinetic models were considered and applied for the result. The pseudo-homogeneous form of rate equation shows the reaction follows second order kinetics and is endothermic. Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model is proposed, considering the reaction as a heterogeneous one with solid catalyst and found that surface reaction is the rate controlling step. This model is well fitted with experimental data.

  • Silver-chalcogen frameworks: crystal and electronic structure of [Ag3S](NO3) and a comparison with [Ag4Te](SO4)

    摘要: Crystal and electronic structure of silver-containing metal-inorganic frameworks [Ag3S](NO3) and [Ag4Te](SO4) have been examined. For [Ag3S](NO3), the crystal structure has been re-determined from X-ray single crystal diffraction data and refined to R = 2.7% in order to determine the exact position of the nitrate anion. It is shown that the main structural feature of [Ag3S](NO3) and [Ag4Te](SO4) is the framework based on the combination of silver-chalcogen and silver-silver interactions, with guest oxoanions filling the cavities. Effectively, ionic interactions between guest anions and the framework differ significantly from the interactions within frameworks themselves, where the bonding analysis shows the tendency for more covalent bonding and indicates that the bonding patterns are consistent with what is regarded as metallophilic interactions.
