研究目的
Investigating the effects of laser cutting on material properties and identifying the parameters responsible for such changes in high strength steels.
研究成果
From considerable research studies have been carried out to examine the CO2 or Nd-YAG laser beam process by the various researchers. The laser control parameters affect the material and the cut front properties both macroscopic and microscopic. The microscopic properties are mainly changes due to heat in the HAZ and due to increase in surface roughness due to defect produce like dross, valley and picks, micro irregularity and striations. The mathematical modeling and the response surface methods for design of experiment are mostly employed to find the optimum value of control parameters to reduce the defect and reduce the HAZ. The optimization techniques result in formation of flat surface and result in distribution of stress in the material and also provide smooth edge.
研究不足
The analysis on the generation of residual stress and crystal structure in the cut front is need to be analyzed in the further analysis. The most of the analysis that has been carried out is done on relatively smaller thickness of sections (up to 10 mm) for which other techniques could be applied as well. The main disadvantage of the experimental study based on CO2 LBC is that parameter obtained are only relative and do not exactly indicate which parameter has the highest effect on the out coming performance characteristic value.
