研究目的
Investigating the chemoselective photocatalytic oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes and ketones by nitromethane on titanium dioxide under violet 400 nm LED light irradiation.
研究成果
An efficient method for the selective oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds has been developed using the photoactive TiO2-P25 catalyst in the presence of nitromethane in argon. The reactions proceed at room temperature under violet 400 nm LED light with excellent selectivity for the production of aldehydes and ketones. The recyclability of the catalyst was very good over several reaction cycles.
研究不足
The method is less effective for aliphatic primary and secondary alcohols, with slow reaction rates and lower yields. Some alcohols like menthol, 2-Adamantanol, and cholesterol were not oxidized under the reaction conditions.
