To develop a small foot-print physical vapor deposition (PVD) system for in-situ deposition of all layers required in a complete Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cell, aiming to transfer this technology to a future industrial production line.

The STAR system has been successfully developed for the in-situ fabrication of complete CIGS solar cells under high vacuum. Initial results demonstrate the system's capability to deposit all necessary layers, with solar cell efficiencies reaching up to 10.2% with a CdS buffer layer. Further optimization of deposition conditions and layer interfaces is expected to improve device performance.

The system is currently between TRL 3 and TRL 4, indicating that further development and optimization are needed before industrial application.
