研究目的
Analyzing the coupling characteristics between fundamental modes and higher order modes in a spun optical fiber with multiple stress elements.
研究成果
The fundamental mode HE11 in a spun optical fiber with multiple stress elements can only couple with higher order HEmn modes having opposite circular polarization states, where m equals N-1. In contrast, a spun optical fiber with a single stress element allows coupling between the fundamental HE11 mode and higher order HE2n and TE modes. The coupling characteristics are explained by angular momentum concepts, highlighting the conditions under which mode coupling occurs.
