研究目的
Developing a mild and efficient protocol for oxathiacetalization of aldehydes and ketones using a visible-light-promoted metal-free photoredox catalyst.
研究成果
A wide range of aldehydes containing aromatic, heteroaromatic, aliphatic, and α,β-unsaturated aromatic rings are all well tolerated under the reaction conditions employed. The control experimental studies validated the insight of the reaction mechanism.
研究不足
The reaction conditions are not suitable for all types of ketones, especially electron-deficient acetylarenes, which did not yield the desired products.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The reaction was conducted using
2:0 mol% eosin Y as the photoredox catalyst under illumination provided by 10-W blue LEDs. Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Benzaldehyde and 2-mercaptoethanol were selected as model substrates under solvent-free conditions.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Schlenk tube, Teflon-coated magnetic stir bar, 10-W blue LEDs, eosin Y, 2-mercaptoethanol, 3-mercaptopropan-1-ol.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The reaction mixture was purged with nitrogen, and the reaction was kept for stirring under blue LEDs irradiation at room temperature for 12 hours.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The crude reaction mixture was purified by silica gel column chromatography to afford the pure product.
