The dual F-P interferometric CO sensor based on PANI/Co3O4-coated fibre tip demonstrates high sensitivity (21.61 pm/ppm), excellent linear response, and high selectivity for CO within the range of 0–70 ppm. The sensor's advantages include easy fabrication, high selectivity, and low cost, making it suitable for sensitive detection of toxic CO gas monitoring.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The sensor is designed using a dual Fabry–Pérot interferometer structure composed of standard single-mode-fibre (SMF), endlessly photonic crystal fibre (EPCF), and PANI/Co3O4 sensing membrane (PCSM). The interference spectra are analyzed to detect carbon monoxide concentration.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The sensor's response to different concentrations of CO gas (0–70 ppm) is recorded in air at room temperature.

Includes SMF, EPCF, PANI/Co3O4 membrane, ASE broadband light source, circulator, optical spectrum analyzer (OSA), and gas chamber.

The EPCF is fused with SMF to form the first F-P cavity, and the EPCF end is coated with PANI/Co3O4 to form the second F-P cavity. The sensor's response to CO gas is measured using an OSA.

The shift in interference spectra is analyzed to determine CO concentration, with sensitivity and selectivity evaluated.
