研究目的
Investigating the integration of visible light communication (VLC) within the next generation wireless communications landscape, focusing on VLC in the context of small cells, HetNet integration, and software-defined systems.
研究成果
The integration of RF and VLC within multitier and multitechnology HetNets adds the aggregate capacity of VLC DSCs to the wireless infrastructure and provides the reliability of the existing RF network. As a supplemental medium, VLC is able to be utilized in an opportunistic manner where high data rate downlink traffic is offloaded from the congested RF medium.
研究不足
The directionality of VLC links implies that system performance mapping is not dependent solely on location as is typically assumed with RF networks. Additionally, the use of visible light imposes constraints that limit the practicality of stand-alone VLC systems, such as intrusive uplink and susceptibility to blocking conditions.
