研究目的
To perform a systematic review on the use of various optical fluorescent agents in pituitary adenoma (PA) surgery.
研究成果
We conclude that selected optical fluorescent agents, including ICG and folate receptors, are most likely to hold promise for clinical use in differentiating PA from normal tissue.
研究不足
Currently, fluorescence techniques can only detect PA near the surface of the operative field due to their requiring a direct application of polarized light. Novel technological devices could be developed to address deeper lesions, but no market solutions currently exist. Current in vitro studies are limited by a lack of standardized protocols, small sample sizes, and lack of primary human cell cultures.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A systematic literature review using PRISMA guidelines was conducted to identify reports describing 5-ALA and other optical agents for fluorescence-guided surgery for PA.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Eleven research studies met inclusion criteria and were reviewed.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Optical fluorescent agents including 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA), indocyanine green (ICG), OTL38, and sodium fluorescein were used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Studies evaluated the intraoperative use of these agents in PA surgery, including their effectiveness in differentiating tumor from normal tissue.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The review analyzed the sensitivity, specificity, and clinical utility of each fluorescent agent in PA surgery.
