研究目的
To provide an overview of the catalog of current and former UV SSI measurements along with the calibration philosophy of each instrument and an estimation of the uncertainties in the published irradiances.
研究成果
Absolute calibration of orbiting SSI instruments can achieve 1% or better accuracy above 200 nm, with less accurate but still useful uncertainties below 200 nm. Various techniques to maintain calibration over solar cycle timescales have been shown, with validation coming from intercomparison of independent simultaneous observations and comparisons between measurements and models. Discrepancies during the decline of solar cycle 23 remain an active area of research.
研究不足
The uncertainty in the degradation correction over time is not always simple to quantify and may not always be published. Calibration techniques below 200 nm are less accurate, yielding uncertainties of 2-3%.
