研究目的
To demonstrate a highly sensitive detection method of 4-methylimidazole (4-MeI), a carcinogenic material, by using a terahertz (THz) metamaterial.
研究成果
The study demonstrated a highly sensitive detection of 4-MeI using THz metamaterials, providing new insight into the application of metamaterials in food safety inspection.
研究不足
The sensitivity of the metamaterial needs to be improved for detection of 4-MeI at concentrations less than a few hundred mg/L.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The THz metamaterial was fabricated using an electric-field-coupled inductor-capacitor (ELC) resonator structure. A finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation was used to design the metamaterial.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
4-MeI solutions at concentrations of 0, 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mg/L were prepared.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
A commercial THz time-domain spectroscopy system (TPS-3000, Teraview, Cambridge, UK) was used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The THz spectra of the metamaterials were measured to detect the 4-MeI concentrations.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The resonance frequency shift and transmittance change were analyzed to detect 4-MeI concentrations.
