研究目的
Investigating the relationship between the structure of shape-tailoring agents, the morphology of Bi2WO6 microcrystals, and their photocatalytic activity under visible and UV light.
研究成果
The research successfully demonstrated a direct correlation between the Hückel polarity of shape-tailoring agents, the morphology (quantified by RSDC), and the photocatalytic activity of Bi2WO6. Lower RSDC values (indicating rose-like shapes) and lower polarity were associated with higher activity, particularly under visible light. The study provides a novel approach for morphology control in photocatalysis but highlights the need for further in-depth investigations to understand underlying mechanisms.
研究不足
The study is limited to Bi2WO6 and specific shape-tailoring agents; the RSDC method is empirical and may not capture all morphological aspects; results may not generalize to other materials or conditions; the influence of Triton X-100 complicates correlations.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved synthesizing Bi2WO6 microcrystals using hydrothermal methods with various shape-tailoring agents (Triton X-100, thiourea, urea, thioacetamide, acetamide, acetone, glycine, alanine, phenylalanine) to control morphology. The Hückel polarity of the C=O or C=S bond was used as a key parameter. Characterization techniques included XRD, DRS, SEM, IR spectroscopy, and photocatalytic activity tests with Rhodamine B degradation under UV and visible light. A new empirical parameter, RSDC, was developed to quantify morphology.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Samples were prepared with different additives in fixed concentrations (0.625 mM), with and without Triton X-100. Rhodamine B was used as a model pollutant for photocatalytic tests.

3. List of Experimental Equipment and Materials: Equipment included a Rigaku MiniFlex II powder diffractometer (XRD), Hitachi S-4700 Type II SEM, JASCO-V650 spectrophotometer with ILV-724 integration sphere (DRS), Jasco 6000 IR spectrometer, BELCAT-A device for BET surface area, Agilent 8453 UV-Vis spectroscope, and autoclave for hydrothermal synthesis. Chemicals were purchased from Alfa Aesar, Merck, Sigma-Aldrich, Fluka, VWR, ReAnal, and Nordic Chem.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Synthesis involved dissolving Bi(NO3)3·5H2O in acetic acid and Na2WO4·2H2O in water with additives, mixing solutions, hydrothermal treatment at 180°C for 15 hours, centrifugation, washing, and drying. Characterization and photocatalytic tests followed standard protocols with dark adsorption equilibrium and periodic sampling.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Data were analyzed using Scherrer equation for crystallite size, BET method for surface area, derivative spectra for optical properties, and RSDC calculation for morphology quantification. Statistical analysis was implied from multiple measurements.
