The Cr-BOC/Ag photocatalyst significantly enhances visible light absorption, charge carrier generation, and transfer due to Cr doping and Ag LSPR effects, leading to improved photocatalytic activity and PFC performance. Optimal conditions yield high removal efficiencies and Coulombic efficiencies, demonstrating potential for environmental and energy applications. Future work should focus on further optimizing parameters and exploring real-world implementations.

The study is limited to specific pollutants (RhB, MO, TC) and conditions (pH, temperature variations tested but not exhaustive). The scalability and long-term stability in real-world applications are not fully addressed. The use of noble metal Ag may increase cost, and the synthesis methods might require optimization for industrial-scale production.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved synthesizing Cr-doped BiOCl (Cr-BOC) via a hydrothermal method and Ag-modified Cr-BOC (Cr-BOC/Ag) via photoreduction. Photocatalytic activity was evaluated using RhB, MO, and TC degradation under visible light. A PFC system was constructed with Cr-BOC/Ag as photoanode, Pt as cathode, and Ag/AgCl as reference electrode.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Samples included pure BiOCl, Cr-BOC with varying Cr doping (mass ratios from experimental dosages), and Cr-BOC/Ag with varying Ag loading (mass ratios from AgNO3 dosages). Pollutants used were RhB, MO, and TC in aqueous solutions.

Materials included Bi(NO3)3·5H2O, NaCl, Mannitol, PVP-30K, CrCl3·6H2O, AgNO3, Ethanol, RhB, MO, TC, Na2SO4 from Sinopharm Chemical Reagent Co.

Synthesis of Cr-BOC involved hydrothermal reaction at 160°C for 3h. Synthesis of Cr-BOC/Ag involved photoreduction under visible light for 1h. Characterization included XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, DRS, ESR, PL, 3D EEMs. Photocatalytic tests involved dispersing catalysts in pollutant solutions, stirring in dark for 30min, irradiating with visible light, sampling at intervals, and measuring concentrations. PFC measurements used a three-electrode system with FTO substrates, supporting electrolyte Na2SO4, and various fuels.

Statistical analysis included standard deviations from triplicate experiments. TOC analysis for mineralization efficiency, and Coulombic efficiency calculated from integrated current and COD changes.
