  • The influence of substrate tilt angle on the morphology of laser cladding layer

    摘要: Laser cladding technology has been increasingly used in processes of mechanical part and component repairing and remanufacturing. However, current research on the morphology of laser cladding is carried out on the premise of substrate level, it cannot be directly applied to the inclined substrate for laser cladding. This paper studied the influence law of tilt angle on the morphology of laser cladding through geometric parameters and profile of the laser cladding. Results show that substrate tilt angle mainly affects five geometric parameters such as the width and height of the layer cladding, peak shift, elevation side width and reduction side width. And a theoretical model for these geometrical parameters has been established for prediction in this paper. Meanwhile experimental profiles of laser cladding results verified the consistency between the laboratory data and model predictions, which is developed for tilted substrates. It will greatly expand the application range of laser cladding technology on complex parts such as gears.

    摘要: In the current work, a new Wideband Substrate Integrated Waveguide Bandpass Filter (SIW-BPF) is presented. The target is to allow vertical roaming between the X and Ku band applications. As a first step, we performed a parametric study of different etched slot geometries namely, H-Slotted, T-Slotted, and U-Slotted DGS in order to examine the effects of altering different geometrical parameters of the unit on its response. H-Slotted DGS shows the highest FBW with 82.89% on the average compared to other geometries. As a second step, the cell size and the numbers of the H-Slotted DGS were optimized with the use of finite element method with the following constraints taken into consideration: low cost fabrication, high Q-Factor, compact size and easy integration. One of the designs was chosen for fabrication to validate the designed circuit. The measured results show that our optimized filter achieves an insertion loss of 2.01 dB at 8.5 GHz, a return loss higher than 11 dB and fractional bandwidth of 90.87% for a single cell and a fractional bandwidth of 80.05% for multiple cells. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated results.

    摘要: Defected ground structure (DGS) is frequently involved to improve the characteristic response of microwave devices. In this paper, investigation of DGS utilization for characteristic enhancement of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) composed of complimentary-split-ring-resonator (CSRR) is presented. The filter is deployed on an FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate with the thickness of 1.6 mm and the dimension of 45 mm × 40 mm. The BPF which is designed by two reversely arranged CSRR incorporated on the SIW conductor surface provides passband extension at higher frequency producing the bandwidth response around 9 GHz. However, the use of CSRR also provides some unsatisfactory response at high frequency region requiring for the enhancement. By involving DGS into the BPF, the characteristic response at high frequency region could be enhanced with the bandwidth response achieves up to 10% improved.

  • Volume Fabrication of Quantum Cascade Lasers on 200 mm-CMOS pilot line

    摘要: The manufacturing cost of quantum cascade lasers is still a major bottleneck for the adoption of this technology for chemical sensing. The integration of Mid-Infrared sources on Si substrate based on CMOS technology paves the way for high-volume low-cost fabrication. Furthermore, the use of Si-based fabrication platform opens the way to the co-integration of QCL Mid-InfraRed sources with SiGe-based waveguides, enabling realization of optical sensors fully integrated on planar substrate. We report here the fabrication and the characterization of DFB-QCL sources using top metal grating approach working at 7.4 μm fully implemented on our 200 mm CMOS pilot line. These QCL featured threshold current density of 2.5 kA/cm2 and a linewidth of 0.16 cm?1 with a high fabrication yield. This approach paves the way toward a Mid-InfraRed spectrometer at the silicon chip level.

  • Nucleation of Three-Dimensional Ge Islands on a Patterned Si(100) Surface

    摘要: The nucleation of three-dimentional Ge islands formed on a pre-patterned Si substrate with an array of round pits is studied. It is found that the Ge islands nucleate within pits with pointed bottoms and along the perimeters of pits with flat bottoms. This effect is determined by the difference between the distributions of elastic strains at the Ge/Si interface for differently shaped pit bottoms. The results of the simulation of growth show that, in the case of pits with pointed bottoms, the most relaxed regions are at the centers of the pit bottoms and the nucleation of islands takes place just in these regions. At the same time, in the case of pits with flat bottoms, the most relaxed regions are shifted from the pit bottoms to the pit edges, resulting in the nucleation of islands along the pit perimeters.

  • 45?° Linearly Polarized and Circularly Polarized High-Scanning-Rate Leaky-Wave Antennas Based on Slotted Substrate Integrated Waveguide

    摘要: A class of 45? linearly polarized and circular polarized high scanning rate leaky wave antennas are proposed in this paper, which is based on slow-wave substrate integrated waveguide structure. High scanning rate leaky wave antennas have recently become attractive for imaging applications and automotive radar. These applications also require a continuous scanning range without an open stopband, as seen at broadside for ordinary leaky wave antennas. Furthermore, both 45? linearly polarization and circularly polarization are required in practical applications. In this paper, we propose an all-in-one leaky wave antenna design, which features high scanning rate, continuous scanning capability across the broadside, 45? linear polarization or circularly polarization, single-layer configuration, and single-side radiation. Two design examples are provided to illustrate the proposed principle. Both simulation and experimental validation are given.

  • Fabrication of Polymer Microstructures of Various Angles via Synchrotron X-Ray Lithography Using Simple Dimensional Transformation

    摘要: In this paper, we developed a method of fabricating polymer microstructures at various angles on a single substrate via synchrotron X-ray lithography coupled with simple dimensional transformations. Earlier efforts to create various three-dimensional (3D) features on flat substrates focused on the exposure technology, material properties, and light sources. A few research groups have sought to create microstructures on curved substrates. We created tilted microstructures of various angles by simply deforming the substrate from 3D to two-dimensional (2D). The microstructural inclination angles changed depending on the angles of the support at particular positions. We used convex, concave, and S-shaped supports to fabricate microstructures with high aspect ratios (1:11) and high inclination angles (to 79?). The method is simple and can be extended to various 3D microstructural applications; for example, the fabrication of microarrays for optical components, and tilted micro/nanochannels for biological applications.

  • [O-methyl-11C]N-(4-(4-(3-Chloro-2-methoxyphenyl)-piperazin-1-yl)butyl)-1H-indole-2-carboxamide ([11C]BAK4-51) Is an Efflux Transporter Substrate and Ineffective for PET Imaging of Brain D3 Receptors in Rodents and Monkey

    摘要: Selective high-affinity antagonists for the dopamine D3 receptor (D3R) are sought for treating substance use disorders. Positron emission tomography (PET) with an effective D3R radioligand could be a useful tool for the development of such therapeutics by elucidating pharmacological specificity and target engagement in vivo. Currently, a D3R-selective radioligand does not exist. The D3R ligand, N-(4-(4-(3-chloro-2-methoxyphenyl)piperazin-1-yl)butyl)-1H-indole-2-carboxamide (BAK4-51, 1), has attractive properties for PET radioligand development, including full antagonist activity, very high D3R affinity, D3R selectivity, and moderate lipophilicity. We labeled 1 with the positron-emitter carbon-11 (t1/2 = 20.4 min) in the methoxy group for evaluation as a radioligand in animals with PET. However, [11C]1 was found to be an avid substrate for brain efflux transporters and lacked D3R-specific signal in rodent and monkey brain in vivo.

  • Effect of substrate temperature on the properties of RF sputtered CdS thin films for solar cell applications

    摘要: We report the effect of substrate temperature (25–300 °C) on the structural, optical and electrical properties of Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) thin films deposited onto glass substrate by Radio Frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering. The structural, morphological, optical and electrical properties of the films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), UV–VIS-NIR spectroscopy and Hall Effect measurement respectively. The XRD studies showed that the films were polycrystalline with hexagonal wurtzite structure preferentially oriented along the (0 0 2) plane parallel to the substrate surface. The XRD data analysis further revealed the crystallite size of the nanocrystalline films i.e. 22–24 nm exhibiting the fact that crystallite size increased with increasing the substrate temperature. The FE-SEM images along with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) studies confirmed the homogeneous, compact and pin-hole free surface morphology. The UV–VIS-NIR studies unveiled the optical transmittance in the range of 75–90% after 540 nm of the wavelength of light. The optical band gaps were found to be decreasing from 2.34 eV to 2.26 eV with increasing the substrate temperature. The films were characterized as n-type as evidenced by the Hall Effect measurement. The carrier mobility was found to be increasing gradually from 5.53 to 12.57 cm2/V·s by increasing the substrate temperature from room temperature to 300 °C due to the improvement of crystalline quality and grain size of the films. The results showed good optical and electrical properties of the films deposited at 300 °C which are suitable to use as window layer in thin film based solar cells.

  • Effect of substrate temperature on bismuth oxide thin films grown by pulsed laser deposition

    摘要: We present and discuss on bismuth oxide films grown on cost-efficient BK7 glass slides by pulsed laser deposition using a metallic target. Our choice is of particular interest due to the high number of intermediate bismuth oxides that can form during the oxidation process, along with the polymorphs of the stoichiometric oxide, i.e. bismuth trioxide (Bi2O3). We show that the oxidation degree of bismuth increases with substrate temperature, tS (300-600 °C), when grown in 100 sccm flow at 6 × 10?1 mbar O2 partial pressure. Thin film crystallinity is also increased with tS, as expected. Instead, the refractive index (n) of the films decreases in the visible range, as tS is increased. Furthermore, the transmittance of the films increases with tS to over 60%, especially in the red and near-infrared region (above 600 nm). As a final point, the results are discussed and compared to literature.
