  • Unique electromagnetic loss properties of Co-doped ZnO Nanofiber

    摘要: In this paper, Co-doped ZnO nanoparticle and nano?ber are prepared by electrospinning method. The results show that Co-doped ZnO nano?ber performs bead-like ?brous shape and exhibits ferromagnetic properties. The dielectric loss and magnetic loss properties of Co-doped ZnO nano?ber are much better than those of Co-doped ZnO nanoparticle due to the improvement of dipole polarization, interfacial polarization and shape anisotropy. The absorptivity of Co-doped ZnO nano?ber can reach 70% in the frequency range of 5.3–18 GHz when the coating thickness is 1.5–4.0 mm. It is demonstrated that the bead-like ?brous shape is bene?cial to optimize electromagnetic loss and microwave absorption properties of Co-doped ZnO.

  • Influence of Cr doping on Schottky barrier height and visible light detection of ZnO thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering

    摘要: A comparative study of the electrical and photodetection properties of ZnO and Cr doped ZnO thin films are being reported here. The films were deposited using magnetron sputtering. X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed hexagonal crystal structure of the films with (002) preferred orientation. Pt/ZnO/Pt and Pt/Cr doped ZnO/Pt Schottky diodes were fabricated for photodetection studies. The Schottky barrier height was lowered for Cr doped ZnO film as compared to ZnO film. The ideality factor was improved upon Cr doping. Pt/ZnO/Pt diode was unresponsive to visible light, however, Pt/Cr doped ZnO/Pt diode showed response to visible light with short response and recovery times. The response of the Pt/Cr doped ZnO/Pt diodes to visible light is attributed to the reduction in band gap of the Cr doped ZnO thin film.

  • Physico-mechanical and antimicrobial properties of an orthodontic adhesive containing cationic curcumin doped zinc oxide nanoparticles subjected to photodynamic therapy

    摘要: Background: Potential complications on the crown level during fixed orthodontic procedures are white spot, enamel demineralization and the tooth decay. This study evaluated the antimicrobial properties of an orthodontic adhesive incorporating cationic curcumin doped zinc oxide nanoparticles (cCur/ZnONPs), which can have the highest concentration of cCur/ZnONPs and shear bond strength (SBS) value simultaneously, on the against cariogenic bacteria including Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sobrinus, and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Materials and methods: Following synthesis and confirmation of cCur/ZnONPs, SBS and adhesive remnant index (ARI) of the test adhesives containing cCur/ZnONPs (1.2, 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10% wt.) were measured using universal testing machine and stereomicroscope, respectively. After continuously rinsed (up to 180 day), the residual antimicrobial ability of modified adhesives which can have the highest concentration of cCur/ZnONPs and SBS value simultaneously were determined by disc agar diffusion (DAD), biofilm formation inhibition, and metabolic activity assays following photo-activation using light-emitting diode (LED) for 5 min against multispecies cariogenic biofilm-producing bacteria. Results: Adhesive with 7.5% wt. cCur/ZnONPs showed the highest concentration of cCur/ZnONPs and SBS value (14.89 ± 3.26 MPa, P < 0.05) simultaneously. No significant differences in ARI scores were found between the modified adhesive and control (Transbond XT without the cCur/ZnONPs). 7.5% wt. cCur/ZnONPs following photo-activation was not colonized by the test microorganisms and suppressed 100% metabolic activity of the test microorganisms up to 90 day compared to the control group (cCur/ZnONPs free LED irradiation; P < 0.05). In DAD assay, the reduction of photodynamic disinfection of the 7.5% wt. cCur/ZnONPs against test bacteria was positively associated to the time, in such a way that it was decreased significantly after 60 day. From days 120 onwards, microbial biofilm formation and metabolic activity was progressively increased on 7.5% wt. cCur/ZnONPs adhesive discs compared to the control group (cCur/ZnONPs free LED irradiation). Conclusions: Our findings highlight the photo-activated 7.5% wt. cCur/ZnONPs can serve as an orthodontic adhesive additive for control the cariogenic multispecies biofilm, and also to reduce their metabolic activity.

  • Novel scintillating nanocomposite for X-ray induced photodynamic therapy

    摘要: We synthesize a novel prospective nanocomposite material for X-ray induced photodynamic therapy. ZnO:Ga core is coated by the SiO2 shell facilitating a functionalization by a photosensitizer, protoporphyrin PpIX layer. By steady-state and time resolved spectroscopy we confirm the presence of energy transfer between the core and the photosensitizer, an essential requirement to induce a cytotoxic effect. Using the commercial chemical probe we also demonstrate the ability of prepared ZnO:Ga@SiO2-PpIX nanocomposite to generate singlet oxygen. Presented results show that this nanocomposite can be considered as a good candidate for potential application in X-ray induced photodynamic therapy.

  • Multifunctional ZnO/polyurethane-based solid-solid phase change materials with graphene aerogel

    摘要: In this work, multifunctional polyurethane-based phase change materials with zinc oxide (ZnO) and graphene aerogel (GA) were prepared through facile impregnation. ZnO and GA improved the latent heat of the system from 86.8 J/g to 108.1 J/g for the heterogeneous nucleation and chemical mitigations. Furthermore, the photo-/electro-thermal energy conversion efficiency of the system with ZnO and GA is 80.1%, 84.4%, respectively, for the efficient light absorption of ZnO and GA as well as the electrical conductivity of GA. The as-prepared materials with high latent heat, excellent form-stability, remarkable thermal stability as well as reliability, efficient light-/electro-thermal energy conversion, have great prospects for applying in energy harvesting, conversion and storage devices like solar heater, smart textile and greenhouse.

  • Treatment of industries wastewater using solar light

    摘要: The degradation of eosin yellow dye using ZnO as a photo catalysts in a slurry reactor exposed to solar light was studied by this paper. The optimum values of different parameters versus catalyst concentration, catalyst type and initial concentration of the substrate affecting the degradation rate of eosin yellow dye were obtained by varying catalyst concentration (255–1255 ppm), and initial dye concentration (25–100 ppm). Color disappearance as well as substrates with the depletion of total organic carbon content was monitored.

  • General condition for realizing a collinear spin-orbit effective magnetic field in two-dimensional electron systems and its application to zinc-blende and wurtzite quantum wells

    摘要: In this paper, we have studied two-dimensional (2D) electron systems described by the effective Hamiltonians containing spin-orbit coupling (SOC) terms up to an arbitrary odd order in wave vector k. The general condition for realizing a SOC-induced effective magnetic field (SOF) in such systems, formulated only in terms of the SOC parameters, is derived. When this condition is satisfied, the projection of the electron spin on the direction of the collinear SOF is a conserved quantity. The complete set of the k-linear and k-cubic Dresselhaus SOC contributions to the effective 2D Hamiltonian of an arbitrarily oriented zinc-blende quantum well is computed by a proper averaging of the corresponding tight-binding bulk SOC Hamiltonian. We investigate possibilities for realization of the collinear SOF in zinc-blende quantum wells of different orientation and obtain some interesting findings, which supplement the results of earlier works. Application of the developed formalism to wurtzite semiconductor 2D systems shows that the collinear SOF can be also realized in a wide class of such quantum wells.

  • Influence of experimental parameters on linear, nonlinear optical and ultrafast dynamics properties of In doped ZnO nanorods

    摘要: In-doped ZnO (IZO) nanorods have been successfully synthesized by chemical vapour deposition method. The structure, morphology and linear optical properties of IZO nanorods have been characterized. The excitation intensity and temperature - dependent the photoluminescence of IZO nanorods were analyzed. The nonlinear optical absorption properties were studied by using the Z-scan technique with same wavelengths at different laser pulses and energies. IZO nanorods showed two-photon absorption (TPA) mechanism at 532 nm. In the low-energy pulse regime, IZO nanorods showed TPA induced ground state saturable absorption (SA). However, with increasing the energy pulse regime, an apparent TPA induced reverse-saturable absorption (RSA) was observed. The ultrafast dynamics properties of IZO nanorods were investigated by the pump-probe technique under different laser parameters. The femtosecond transient absorption spectra show that the few decades picosecond component has been assigned to the shallow donor mixed with donor bound recombination, and the slowed components represent the decay from donor–acceptor pair recombination.

  • Morphology Control of Hydrothermally Grown ZnO Nanostructures by Additives and Seed Layers

    摘要: We present a rational control over the morphology of hydrothermally grown ZnO nanostructures by introducing different additives, sequential seeding, and multilayer seeds. The aspect ratio of the ZnO nanorods could be tuned with different types of additives (surfactant, amine, metal salt, and polymer additives) at an appropriate concentration in solution for ZnO hydrothermal growth. Some of the metal salts induced change in both aspect ratio and coverage simultaneously. The degree of vertical alignment of the ZnO nanowires was influenced by the number of seed layers. Furthermore, hierarchical ZnO nanostructures could be fabricated for thermal annealing on a secondary seed layer. The various control parameters demonstrated in this study provide beneficial information that can be used to guide a new strategy for relevant future applications.

In this work, we will focus on ITO and ZnO for different application fields of integrated optoelectronics, memristors and biosensing.
