研究目的
To conduct an exhaustive and systematic comparative analysis of the Optical Frequency Comb (OFC) generation using gain switching (GS) in semiconductor lasers.
研究成果
The comparison between the simulated and the experimental behaviour has provided a clear understanding of the main physical processes involved in OFC generation. The analysis of the simulations has allowed us to understand the physical mechanisms involved in the generation of OFC, as well as to predict the behaviour of these devices beyond the experimental limitations.
研究不足
The study is limited to the analysis of OFC generation using gain switching in semiconductor lasers and does not explore other techniques such as electro-optic modulation or mode-locking.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A theoretical model based on three stochastic differential equations including non-linear saturation and Langevin noises was used to simulate the experimental results.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
A Discrete Mode Laser (DML) driven in GS operation using a bias current and a sinusoidal signal was used.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Brillouin Optical Spectrum Analyzer (BOSA) for high-resolution spectra measurements.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The experimental and simulated response was studied to identify the main physical processes involved in the generation of GS OFC.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
RIN spectra measurements were used to extract the parameters of the model.
